Electrical Product Safety Compliance

CKC Laboratories provides full range of Electrical Product Safety testing and agency submittal services. Our capabilities include the evaluation of Information Technology (ITE), Telephone Terminal Equipment (TTE) and Test, Measurement and Laboratory equipment. We can also provide agency reporting and liaison services for Underwriter’s Laboratories (UL), Canadian Standards Association (CSA), and TUV Rheinland.

Testing Capabilities

CKC’s Safety Test Centers are located in Canyon Park, Washington and Brea, California. At these locations, we can provide pre-certification evaluation, CE marking self-declaration testing, UL / CSA / TUV and CB Scheme witnessed certification/verification testing. Other agency witness testing may be arranged upon request. Specific standards that we are equipped to test to include: CSA C22.2 No. 950 / UL 1950, EN60950, UL 3101, UL 3111, CSA C22.2 No. 1010-1 and EN61010-1. Testing / evaluation to other standards can be arranged through a CKC Certification Agency Partner.

Pre-Certification Testing

Why should you have CKC Laboratories perform the pre-certification and then witnessed final testing on your product? The answer is that it actually saves you time and money. If your product is tested at UL and fails to comply, it will be sent back to you to retrofit for compliance. When you are ready to resubmit for ‘another try,’ you will be back in the 4-8 week waiting queue. This process could be very time consuming, depending on the types of design challenges that you are facing. Although you may pay extra to have your product pre-certification tested by CKC (versus direct testing by UL or CSA), you gain the ability to see and fix problems in a timely and less expensive manner. A CKC Safety Consulting engineer can also assist you in the process of finding feasible, cost effective solutions to your certification challenges.

When your product undergoes witness testing by a UL engineer at CKC, he will have the CKC pre-certification report showing full compliance in addition to any tests that may need to be performed for final certification. Your time to market is actually shortened by avoiding multiple evolutions of waiting in the UL queue. Another great time saving factor when your product is witness tested at CKC is that the UL engineer will be dedicating his time and full attention to your product alone for the day versus multitasking sometimes one hundred or more different customer projects. Finally, the advantage of CKC “knowing the ropes” ensures that the right people are brought into the picture to provide you with a certified product -- ready for market. Agency Submittal and Liaison Services

Once a witnessed test has been completed at CKC Laboratories, we can also provide agency draft reports and liaison services. CKC can prepare draft final reports, in agency approved format, based on the UL or CSA witness testing and evaluation. CKC can then submit these reports to UL or CSA and interface with them on your behalf.
