CKC News Briefs

January 14, 2010

In an E-mailed sent on January 8th by Adam Gouker of A2LA, we have learned that NAVAIR recently amended its guidelines to include clear acceptance of test results from A2LA accredited EMC labs, such as CKC. This is great news for CKC customers performing MIL-STD 461 testing for NAVAIR contracts.

Please note that NAVAIR Instruction 2400.1, “Electromagnetic Environmental Effects and Spectrum Supportability Policy and Procedures” has been recently revised and now explicitly identifies the accreditation requirements for the laboratories supporting the qualification testing program. A copy of this document may be obtained from CKC upon request by E-mail at ckclabs@ckc.com.

More details can be found in the Winter 2010 Issue of the BroadBand Newsletter.

CKC’s Mariposa Site A has been accredited by A2LA to perform above a GHz testing in accordance with CISPR 16-1-4 procedures.   Our Mariposa Site A will now be performing CISPR 16 based above 1 GHz testing for EN55022: 2006 with A1(2007), CISPR 22: 2005 with A1(2006) (or CISPR 22:2008), and VCCI: 2008 (and newer) for tabletop sized equipment.

The European Union today postponed the date by which above 1 GHz emissions testing must be performed for CE marking.  The new EN55022:2006 (with A1:2007) calls for emissions testing above 1 GHz along with the test procedures called out in CISPR 16-1-4.  Today’s postponement allows ITE manufactures to continue utilizing EN 55022:1998 (with A1 and A2) to demonstrate compliance with CE mark EMC emissions requirements until October 1, 2010.  On October 1, 2010, VCCI (Japan) emission requirements will also call for above 1 GHz testing on devices with operating frequencies above 108 MHz.

July 15, 2009

On February 1, 2009, EN 61326-1: 2006 became the applicable standard to demonstrate CE mark EMC compliance for measurement, test, control and laboratory equipment.  If a product tested to EN61326: 1998 (with or without amendments) is still on the market, the testing needs to be updated.  Depending on the exact categorizations of the equipment (non-industrial, industrial, controlled environment, portable, etc.), re-testing may be required for radiated immunity, Surge, Voltage Interruptions/Variations, Harmonics and Flicker.  A number of approaches can be taken to update your products testing and thus demonstrate compliance with the new standard.  For additional information, please contact CKC at 800-500-4EMC and press option 3 to speak with one of our compliance specialists.

CKC Laboratories is pleased to announce the completion of our Fremont facility expansion and renovation. Over the past year, we have added a new, larger MIL/DO-160/Automotive anechoic chamber, a new bench immunity test room and a spacious Training / Conference Room. Much of the facility has been reconfigured to better serve our customers’ needs. If you haven’t been to CKC Fremont lately, we’re sure you’ll be impressed by the improvements we have made. Please contact Robert Tozier or Dexter Goody to arrange for a tour.
